This weekend, I had the privilege of learning about Italian broadcast media in Milan. The trip was a field study for a course I am taking in Rome called Communication and Social Transformation. One of my professors works in Italian media, so she was able to get us into the public TV and radio station, Rai and the private radio station, Radio Populare. We were given tours of these stations and were able to sit in on a taping of a TV show and a live radio show. Of course, both of these shows were in Italian, but the excitement that exists in media is universal—we could all feel it.
The trip focused on Italian media, but we also tried to take in as much of Milan as we could. We embraced the city as a fashion capital of the world by visiting the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, braved danger by climbing up to the roof of the Duomo in the rain, and awed at the gorgeous interior of the cathedral. The churches in Italy will never cease to blow me away…their beauty is untouched and unbelievable.
I loved the couple of days I spent in Milan, but upon arriving back in Rome, I realized how much it already feels like home. Now, if I could only get that whole Italian language thing down… 😉
As always, thank you for reading! Baci Baci (kisses, kisses),

What a stark contrast between the architecture of the old buildings and the interior of the studio.
